  • Question about EGR Valve

Is it normal for sludge/oil to come out of the two holes on the EGR Valve just below the diaphragm?

    No.

    It's stuffed.

Had the car throw the CEL on Thursday and when I scanned it the error was insufficient EGR Flow.
      Hopefully that's what it is.
      Thanks Umai

        Yep, that'd be it.

Chances are, it'll be blocked too.

Funny thing about it Umai is I cleaned it at 105k and it was spitting spooge out of the holes back then.
Now its at 155k and it's thrown the code and when I pulled it of today it was still clean.
Just a light covering of spooge that washed of with some brake cleaner.
I was expecting it would be coked up like it was at 105k (well at least half as much).
It's like the Valve hasn't been working since I cleaned it.
I will go into work and get a valve tomorrow and put it on.

Went into work on Saturday and got an EGR Valve off a 1.9 BKC engine, gave it a clean and fitted it and all is good now.
Also fitted a new battery on Saturday and F me it's got some cranking power.
You just have to breath on the key and it fires up.
