Hmm well I'm not sure how long that turbo will last since Garrett says that watercooling improves mechanical durability and it lengthens the turbos life.

Yeah its good to avoid the smoke if you can. I'd stick with a cast manifold over a stainless one for a TDI engine, that's why my turbo got welded onto another stock cast manifold.

Testing out my new tune. It feels pretty good

Does anyone have any recommendations on what thicker gear oil I can use in my jetta?

I was advised to do this from the clutch company because I am experiencing a lot of gear rattle and they said the noise will reduce if I go thicker gear oil. The SMF is very loud...

Thanks a lot. Yeah the project is going well. Nozzles should be coming very soon too.

Just got another updated tune with 30psi from Mark Malone. Malone is in Canada or America. He is very helpful and you won't be disappointed with his tune. I have had 4 tunes from him and never had an issue. The car makes over 220hp now and it still doesn't smoke.

You don't get that everyday, especially at some mechanics and aftermarket workshops. The exhaust took 15 hours to complete divided into a 3 day period (including breaks and mucking around). I'm getting my 3rd updated tune from Malonetuning in the next 2-3 days and I think i'll be running around 28-30psi. I think this tune will max out my nozzles. I would recommend Malonetuning to everyone, they are diesel experts. AFR is around 16-17:1 which is basically smokefree.

Your octavia looks pretty good, you did a great job!
Here is a brainstorming session for your new audi. Doesnt the audi have twin turbo? If so, you can connect 2 gtb2060vklr turbos on the v6 and you'll be flying. These turbos only come off the Mercedes E 350cdi blue efficiency 258hp. I think they only sell these models in Europe though.. could be wrong. I have a friend over in Germany that got one off the wreckers with 8000km on it and he welded the turbo onto the bkd manifold for me.
Would this be Scotty by chance?
Awesome work, wish I went all out on my tdi, at least someone is doing it
Will be a machine in the end!

                Hey mate, thanks!
Yeah she is a machine, she has been coping up until now You going back to Scott to finish off your exhaust system?

I ended up purchasing BC racing coilovers (BR model) and will be installing them on Thursday together with the nozzles. Can't wait to see how the car responds then (apart from the torque steer haha).

Haha hopefully the torque doesn't kill the box, just a tune/exhaust blew the bearing on my old tdi and smashed up all the gears, was manual too

Nah I have a guy that's much closer to me 15mins that does good work also, Scotty is a bit to far to try and get a car down there, he is well known through SAU though

I'd like to see the results of the BC BR on the car, haven't really heard of anyone running them on vw yet and they are pretty good bang for buck on all the other models

                    Great build mate.

Much respect for going a different turbo.

Did you go that turbo for a reason? Or was it just what your friend could get you over there?

I'd love to see/hear this thing once it's all sorted. I was considering doing a similar build to my jetta but decided to go on another path.

A lot of people in the states use these coilovers and for just over $1000 its a bargain. I'd like to see the results too when they get installed!!!

                        Thanks mate.

I went for this turbo because its ball bearing and is one of the fastest spooling small turbos in the market at the moment. My friend over in Germany has this on his 1.9L mk4 tdi and I was so impressed that I had to have it too. I was more impressed that it can make 2.7bar on a 1.9L mk4 tdi at 2700rpm. I have almost achieved that on my car at the moment.

I recently started going to meets again so you might see me hanging around.
Do you still have the jetta? If you are still interested I could help you source one of these turbos. My friend does a great job in welding too. He welded the turbo onto the stock cast manifold.

Hey, the nozzles are finally being installed and tested before they go into the car. The car is running without any issues apart from the abs sensor that popped up one night after the drags. The tune cost me $350 with many free updates. The tune box costs $200 I think but you can lease it from Malone. Yes Malone supplied me a base tune and then every update was refined for free. I am aiming 300hp and 650nm of torque. Hopefully I can reach that amount smoke-free.

Great news update. The nozzles have been installed on the stock injectors. The injector place i took the nozzles to widened the cap nut by around 0.6mm in diameter because the nozzle set I got (according to Frattelli bosio) were a 'bad batch', not the flow rate but the nozzle size. All 4 nozzles came back with positive results, they all flow pretty much the same. They are in the car now since Friday last week and they have amazed me. The car is running a base tune for the new nozzles from Malone with 30psi. Upgrading the nozzles is worth it. Will come back with dyno runs in the next 2 weeks.
