  • Not kicking over when hot

    Team.

    Vehicle MY07 Jetta DSG 103kw

Had a search, have not found what is happening or possibly about to happen.

Has occurred twice in two weeks, after the car has been running for approx an
hour,(doesn't seem to occur on shorter trips), when the car has been turned off
and left for short period say 5-15 minutes ,when then trying to restart the motor it will
turn over but not fire, you can try a number of times but will just crank over and not fire up ,
If you push the accelerator down while cranking the motor comes to life.

Have no display warning symbols at this stage.

Had a look at a few injector failure threads but they seem to be mainly for the 125kw motor.

    Maybe a sensor somewhere ???

    Thanks All.

May be wear on the camshaft resulting in a marginal fuel supply at idle — if so the failure to fire will gradually become more frequent.

Pushing the pedal down feeds more fuel, hence it starts.

    (Just guessing, of course.)

More than likely this is a sensor issue, or an injector issue. I would get it scanned as soon as you can. I believe there were some people that reported similar symptoms just before injector failure (caused by the wiring loom fault).

Camshaft wear was really only a problem for a certain production run of engines, mostly in north America.

Quite unlikely to be a mechanical fault.

Check battery voltage when cranking, as well as cranking speed. Cranking speed needs to be higher than 280rpm before it'll fire.

Could also be a starter motor on it's way out.

I have the same issue with my wifes Audi A3 (05, BKD 103KW)

It's driving me crazy, have to crank for seconds sometimes. If i abort cranking, and then crank again, it pretty much starts instantly

If I persist with cranking, I loose window regs and cruise control. Anyone else?

I've had issues with my FG Falcon (traded) which seemed to revolve about battery voltage .....reboot (neg lead off for say 10min) or new higher CCA battery would be the first steps with any BODY, ICE, HVAC etc problems. It costs nothing to try a reboot. (Obviously without key in ignition)

                              Sorry for not updating guys.

Still have not done anything about this, it has not occurred for months now. Maybe trading soon anyway.
As I previously said would only fire after pushing on accelerator.

Would be interesting to see what the outcomes of others were.
