  • Mobil 1 3000 x1 in the turbocharged AAZ engine

I've got a few canisters of this in my garage. You guys know if it is good enough for the AAZ engine? Mobil 1 lists it for "turbocharged and directly injected engines," but they don't specify or exclude turbocharged diesel engines. They neither claim it for the VW 505.01 standard.

The list of approved oils are in the fuel and lubricants thread below

If it is not on the list then Caveat Emptor.

You could use it but it will not last as well in a diesel engine as the oil gets dirty fast, and being a non-specific diesel oil it wont have any cleaning agents in it.

I would still use it if you need to use it up. Just change it every 5000km.

The AAZ engine requires an oil made to VW 505.00 standard, so Mobil Super 3000 X1 5W-40 is absolutely fine to use.

You can of course use VW 505.01 oils if you wish, but they're only compulsory for PD TDI or CR TDI engines without a DPF.
