Pretty certain it was only the 125Kw engined TDi's that are fitted with the Siemens injectors so that would include the GT and the Passats, not Jetta's. They were fitted with the 104kw TDi engine and have Bosch injectors that are not part of the recall. You can always ring the VW dealer, quote your VIN number and see if its eligible for the campaign.

Only the 125kw MKV diesels were affected. Jetta is fine. Run it on good name brand diesel, put the odd bottle of Fuel Doctor from supercheap through it, and it will be quite trouble free. Castrol has a VW specific oil that is 504, and if you look at most bottles at say supercheap, they will list "meets or exceeds VW 504" etc. Pick a brand and stick with it. I run Penrite Enviro, but have to look for a higher grade due to my DPF ( that you donlt have! )

Also get your oil filters from VW direct, half the cost of the Ryco at Supercheap! Oh and you will need a 32mm socket to pull the oil cap off from the front of the engine from the TOP. It's not a spin on, nor accessed from the bottom - that's an oil cooler down there!

I wouldn't be so sure the 103kw TDI passats from 06 are affected by the recall, mine has the sticker as a check as my injectors had been previously replaced under extended warranty. My understanding is that it covers the 103kw and 125kw PD engines.

What engine code do you have?

I have heard mixed reports about the 103, but I am surprised they would group it with the 125, given the 103 just shuts down that one cylinder as opposed to the 125 stopping all of them at once, hence the 125 concern!

It's a BKD prefix. I have all the receipts from the original owner. The car has been serviced by VW since new and there is nothing on any of the receipts (I even have those for warranty work at no charge) that show the injectors have been changed. The worst that has happened is a replacement glow plug and wiring about 60,000 and a split CV joint boot about 75,000.

Just call the dealer, give them your VIN and ask if there are any outstanding campaigns on the vehicle. It's easier than speculating on the internet.

Exactly what I suggested earlier - takes 2 minutes.

Good idea. It's been serviced by the same dealer all it's life. I'll ring them tomorrow.

I have a BKD engine - the 103kW Pumpe Düese. I contacted a local dealer who did not ask for VIN but for vehicle registration number. Not covered, no campaigns past or present or outstanding for DSG injectors, anything, so that's great news I suppose!

Searching the internet for campaigns/recalls, I found this; Golf > Recall Campaigns > Maintenance & Care > Service & Parts > Volkswagen New Zealand
I went searching the Australian VW webite and found nothing on campaigns or recalls?
