If you have replaced the oil with the correct one, you should be ok.

There isn't much else you can do.

Any effect on the engine and its emissions systems will most likely be very minimal, if any.

I agree , too late know. The oil filter can hold up to 0.7L if you suck the oil out from the o.filter housing as well. Going to the dealer would just give them an excuse to void your warranty on the emission system, mainly the DPF. So, I suggest you don't tell them.

Last place I would take it.
Was done to one of mine last service Found out after it had run 40km

Solution Took other car bought correct oil and new filter and sump plug Took it 5 k to a local garage who changed it over for me.

You shouldnt really mix different oils so drain all of whats in there and put ALL correct stuff. A 5L of Penrite Enviro+ 5w 30 was $69 at Super cheap a couple of weeks ago They may still have it otherwise Castrol correct one is about $83 and filter $26-$32 Sump plug $4

Just forget it — you've done the right thing and the short time you had the wrong oil in isn't likely to affect the service life of your engine, so why upset yourself for nothing.

I understood the main advantage of the VW507 oil was to permit the extended service interval. So a 507 oil has more additives (detergents, etc). Probably worthwhile doing the next oil change a bit earlier (say 7.5k rather than 15k).

Engine noisiness is more likely due to a lower cetane diesel batch. DPF clogging is more likely with any pump diesel in Australia, since *none* of them meet the VW cetane specification CN51 for DPF cars, except by random fluke (australian diesel standard min CN46).

So do get yourself a cetane improving additive. (like Morey's diesel smoke killer)

Hillbilly, how could you possibly find out that the dealer had put in the wrong oil???? And why didn't you take it back to the dealer for a freebie fix????

It wasnt a dealer (I didnt say it was) and I had asked him if he used ÄPPROVED OIL" and he said he did After I got it back I asked for the exact specs of the oil and looked it up on ERWIN It wasnt approved.

In his favour he refunded me quite a lot of the money so am ok with it now but wont be burnt again

Low SAPS is another difference which makes life easier for the catalitic converter

Extended service intervals dont apply in Australia.

We work on time or distance services, Some of the non approved oils state NOT FOR ENGINES WITH DPF Hence the reason to get the right one

                              Extended service is actually a variable interval (QG0 & QG2 IIRC) between 15k-29k & 12-24 months.

Our 15k intervals are the std fixed interval (QG1) & 7.5k is "severe service"

DPF I think. Isn't 507.00 mandatory for DPF no matter what the interval? What would you & I know? We have the superior petrol fuel ;-p
