  • Feeding it BP Diesel

Noting the comments of others regarding reliability (some seem to have had a bad run) I can't help but wonder if my exclusive feeding of my Golf on BP Diesel has been the key to my practically unbroken reliability. Certainly can't have hurt I suspect.

My Golf has been brought up mainly on a diet of United diesel. But I do give it some 2so each fill up.

      40,000kms and no problems yet.

Since I have owned my little baby, I have mainly used Caltex Vortex, but I know it has a high turn over of diesel, as allot of trucks also fill up there.

I've had mine a little over 14000km, and I don't recall ever using anything other than Shell.

            Works for me.

              Sorry, but what the issue?

Using diesel that has been there a while?

Ive never shopped at an unknown chain and have never had an issue (that I'm aware of) ...

Not an issue, rather just an observation. Not even brand snobbery on my part - I've just always filled at BP's diesel pump because what is what the dealer advised me to do when I picked up my Golf. There may well be nothing in it, just happy that I've had trouble free motoring - BP diesel being coincidence or not. Draw your own conclusions as to merits, but BP diesel certainly done me no harm (as far as I can tell) for almost seven years.

I think you will find that almost all the reliability problems with the MkV TDi's have been with the GT models due to the piezo electric injector/loom issue. Fuel has no effect on this.

The 1.9 and 'normal' 2.0 PD engines don't have any reliability issues AFAIK.

                      Re: Feeding it BP Diesel

I almost exclusively used BP. In 25000km I've probably used shell 4 times. Oddly my last tank (BP) seems to have increased the volume of the usual diesel rattle. Even my partner mentioned it. It was from a different station from my usual.

                            Hi jazd,

Is it the B2 blend that you are using and can you notice any difference when you are using a different diesel?

                            Thanks
