    TDI towing consumption

I'll start by saying thanks for your help with skoda but I find the car terribly ugly!!

I know either diesels would be good but I'm looking for a little less stress on the engine while I'm towing, prob tow once or twice every few months which is why I'm look at the golf, one because I've aways liked them, and two because Its an economical alternative for towing when it will spend most of its time as my get-a-bout.

Does anyone use their golf to tow, whats the fuel consumption like when towing loads similar to what I'm looking at. Sorry for the 20 + 20 + 20 questions, lol just when ur paying this money for a car with more than one purpose you wanna know how it will perform .

Once again thats for you help.

    Stoney!
My 3.8m tinny, 20HP outboard and home made trailer (160kg) weighs a whisker over 300kg. In normal driving on long runs, I get around 4.8/5.0l per 100km. Towing the boat, this drops to between 7.0/7.4l per 100km. Admittedly this isn't a huge weight, but provided you stay within the factory recommended towing limits, you should be fine. Compared to my previous car (Magna 3.5 - extractors, chip, head work) there's very little difference - the Magna is a clear winner on the straights, but going up those hills near Byron Bay - boy, the diesel really hauls. Haven't stopped smiling..........

I'm new to the forum so be nice lol.

I've been looking at buying a turbo Diesel MkV for a while now but I could never quite find the spec I wanted (since they dropped the sportline) but you know I only just now realised the GT comes out in TDi also, and not just any Tdi a 125kw - 350nm TDI.

Does anyone know how much better this version is,
Hi, I'm a newbie too and have recently ordered a GT Sport Tdi. Its expected to arrive late December or early January. I've driven both the standard 2.0 TDi and the GT Sport TDi. Performance wise the GT sport is definately faster and but not to the point where someone like my wife would tell the difference. I felt the extra power but the main reasons why I chose it over the standard is that it looks much better, the front bar is more like the GTi and it comes standard with 17" BBS wheels and all the colour coding that I couldn't get in a comfortline .
The comfortline just looked a little too plain for me and the sportsline was no longer available.
The car sat lower than the standard Tdi too and was noticably harder in terms of ride.
