  • Oil change - quicker warm-up ???

Greetings Wise Ones. Subject is my Mk 6, TDI. Have just done the 30K service myself, using Pentrite Enviro + (which is, I notice, VW Approved). Changed the oil filter and the fuel filter. All went OK, the car runs well, no change in fuel consumption, no change in maximum oil temperature on my regular trips. However - the engine temp and oil temp come up noticeably sooner than before - much sooner. Any ideas?

If no oil leaks and you put the right amount of oil in the engine.
Then, there should be no difference in oil warming up time.

i use penrite in all my cars incl my dad's cherokee diesel and cars run much smoother with it. i think its a great oil and i wouldn't be concerned that everything warms up quicker as long as it doesn't overheat
I change the oil every 7-8k and 5k for the diesel, just to make sure there is always clean oil in the engine, 15k and 25k oil changes seem a bit too far apart

perhaps the viscosity is slightly lower making it circulate faster and warm up faster.

I too use penrite exclusively.... not ever a hint of a problem.

Since I began using full synthetic penrite in my diesels, i noticed that compared to lower viscosity oils, the warm up is faster. (my old mk3 turbo diesel is the main car i noted this with).

Since I got my octavia i have only used penrite in it, but i changed the oil within about 1500km's after i bought the car so i cant say i noticed that it was different.
