  • Mk5 Jetta 125TDI Provent 200 Intstallation

Provent 200 CCV Oil Air Filter Separator Catch Can installed into my 2011 Mk5 Jetta 125TDI.

I designed and made the bracket and bolted it to the Battery Tray:

    Final Installation:

Drain hose with Tap - use my Pela Oil Extrator Vacuum Pump to suck out the collected oil:

Nice bracket. Thanks for the writeup!!

Unsure though how long that nylon tubing will last at engine bay temps - let us know!

Vinyl tubing does last quite well.
It hardens up over time but it's really cheap to replace.
Heat in the engine bay does not really do much to it. It softens it a bit but it does not melt.

Best thing about it is that because it is clear you see whats getting filtered.
It does not sweat like silicone tubing and because it is thin walled the 19mm tubing can bend without kinking too a degree, compared to 25mm tubing which just wants to kink.
It is also light so does not add too much weight when the lengths get long.

I have just driven 600km to the farm and not an issue from heat in this tight engine bay.

He's a pic of my Mk3 vinyl tubing after 3 years I replaced it and it is still going after 3 years:
The engine leaked more than the copper bend fittings.

There is also higher temperature clear tubing (120degC), at Clark Rubber, but I'm not sure if they have it in 19mm dia.

Found it here: Clear Vinyl Tubing | Clark Rubber
              suitable for petroleum products

Suitable for transfer of liquids not under pressure, this hose is clear providing a visual reference for easy identification of blockages or foreign objects. It’s food grade and is suitable for drinking water as well as petroleum products.

              Available diameters (mm) : 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12.5, 16, 20, 25, 32, 38, 50
When will they learn to quote ID or OD?
We all cannot rely on "everyone knows" that Pipe is OD and Tubing is ID

Anyway 20mm ID would still be fine but I would test it with a connector first before buying... it will be alot more than Bunnings $4.80/90cm in 19mm

High temp Vinyl Tubing might be special item for instore only.

How do you empty it and how often must you do it? From what i can see, the oil can just go straight out the bottom?

This will be one of my next mods... I took off the ASV to intercooler pipe and oil was everywhere!

Drain hose with Tap - use my Pela Oil Extrator Vacuum Pump to suck out the collected oil:
What I do have is 13mm tubing out the bottom to a 13mm elbow to more 13mm tubing that goes straight back to the firewall then another 13mm elbow to more 13 mm tubing going up next to the ABS unit and ending in a irrigation tap that you see in the pic above. The tap looped down and clipped into the electical harness out of the way.

I've done 1500km so far and nothing in the drain tubing.

When it comes to emptying drain tube... I have a Pela Oil vacuum pump that is used to suck out oil through the dip stick of engines. I will use this down the drain tube - hence the tap to open and close it
