  • Yeah high full primer. Lots of sanding. Colour matched acrylic paint. 2 pack clear paint though. All sprayed on low pressure from a 30 odd litre air compresser and spray gun of course. Pretty basic spray painting stuff

    • Thanks for sharing! Yea a few pics wld truly be appreciated! I'm feeling a little daunted as to painting it myself tho.

What grit sandpaper did u start w to get rid of the textured surface? And do progress down to finer grit along the way? Did u have to wet sand your acrylic paint down and buffing it before putting on the 2pac clear coats?

      You make it sound easy....

      • it easy!
i forget what grit i used, i didn't sand down the textured plastic, just high fill primed until it had filled in the bumps smooth, then rubbed it back with up to 2000 grit i believe.

        • Where do you get the high full primer? What brand did you get? Seems to work quite well.

Where did you find a booth to 2 pac spray the clear coats?

            • nah keeping it mate, uni is hectic at the moment so havent had much time to think about it. i had 2 buckled rims from a asteroid crater type pothole, so had to pay and get those machined, balanced, refitted etc.
i have a gti rear which is primed and filled, and a twin exhaust tip. need time to get some base coat on it, then off to dads to get 2pack clear on it. need to repaint my front lip and its scratched to **** and flaking. then 2 pack clear that too. have HPA adjustable front struts to go in too. but as said above time and money are issues at the moment. went on holidays which emptied the bank account a few weeks before uni. so yeah thats where im at

i did fit a matte black rear badge? does that count? hahaha

                      • How are you liking your Revo tune? It seems that the Revo TDI tune is the most powerful at around 130kw. Every other tune is around 125kw mark. Looking at getting a tune on mine in a couple of weeks by CustomCode. DSG tune too. Can't wait.

                        • love the revo, you can only get a revo tune if you have a non dpf model. DPF models with revo tune can lead to super high egts which can burn stuff apparently( nasty), i don't know the ins and outs of it. but it has plenty of poke and is a bit of fun when i need it. makes your car entirely different though. I'm running 22psi i think, make sure you get your egr coded out !! and see if they can code in a 3 bar MAF sensor, the sensor is only about 60 bucks and gives a lil extra fun getting my cat and muffler removed next week I think

Does you exhaust have an o2 sensor to the cat converter? And the ASV was left on the car yeah?
Guessing it pulled a error light on dash?

                            • hey mate, intake hardware is stock, simply coded out as a part of the tune. it may still be on, but its wound down to as minimal flow as possible. my intake is squeaky clean. no errors.
