I have a 1979 Golf diesel. I have overhauled the injection pump and I need to reinstall it. I don't know the torque the nut that secures the pulley takes. Can any one help me. I know it takes quite a bit!

Fuel pipes 2.5 mkg
Pump gear 4.5 mkg
I guess These figures still apply today.

[QUOTE=sgolf1b;56925]Thanks a lot guys,
but the torque info I need is for the nut that secures the belt pulley in front of the pump. the info provided by Jets appears to me to be not enough torque for this nut as it took a lot of strenght to undoit.
REally appreciate your input!
The figures I gave in mkg [AKA Kilopond-Meter] are the same as Newton-Meter but only 1/10th numerically.[hope that makes sense]
I checked my other manuals & they all show the same figures as Brackie has posted. I also checked my mk2 Bentley-- same as mk1.Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

Thanks everyone for your messages! really appreciate it. By the way is the woodruff key the half circle shaped piece of metal that keeps the pulley in its place?
thank you for giving me the correct torque also for the campbelt tensioner. I needed it also! great stuff.
