  • BP Ultimate Diesel is back

Just left the following in the "Fuels & Lubricants" section, figured I'd add it here also as it's such a momentous day!

I topped up this morning and can confirm that Ultimate diesel is back, at least in my neck of the woods.
My local (Burleigh Heads) has got the signage up advertising as such. Hopefully it's the same everywhere where it was originally sold.
    Cheers.

pulled from the BP website -

    Release date: 18 May 2010
BP Ultimate Diesel was launched in Australia in 2007 and since then it has become a favourite with many motorists in Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.

In late 2009 Ultimate Diesel was temporarily withdrawn from the market as BP developed changes to the manufacturing process.

These changes are now complete and a modified version of Ultimate Diesel is to be reintroduced to the market in Queensland and South Australia during May and Western Australia in June.

Results from BP’s in-house testing facility in Bochum, Germany, combined with local independent testing confirm that Ultimate Diesel still offers all the benefits you would expect from BP Ultimate advanced performance fuels. This includes improved fuel economy and reduced emissions compared to regular diesel.

Customers seeking more information should contact the BP customer service helpline 1300 1300 27.

What took you so long BP? I got rid of my Diesel in despair and got a French car that runs on PULP instead...
Like depriving us of Ultimate distillate for so long wasn't enough, you blew that bloody well in the Golf! What is wong with you people?

I filled up with Ultimate Diesel about two weeks ago on my way to Sydney for the Nats. You can ask Jon-GTI, I've never been so excited to put fuel in my life!

          what the ****?!?!?!?!?!?!

any reason why the wont bring it to victoria?

is it because we arent capable of handling the higher cetane rating and cleaning agents of the fuel?

I think BP have other things to take car of before moving the roll out of Ultimate Diesel.

It was on sale in ACT a while ago as well.

BP ultimate was in WA and QLD close to two years ago.

Still my local has a clean high-flow pump so that's good enough. A full tank in 45 seconds!

Just remember the single greatest natural disaster in US history before you fill up at BP next time...

                    Firstly, its "Gulf".

Second, unfortunately the same can be said for any oil company and a number of "natural disasters" (nothing natural about it) all through our recent history - it could have been any oil company that caused that, and as long as we're drilling oil from under the sea bed, it'll happen again. Some people will argue that all accidents are avoidable - and no doubt at all that heads will roll over this one, but ultimately (being an engineer myself) the truth is that no-matter how careful you are, eventually something bad like that will happen - you just hope that its not you who will be held responsible. (It could be argued that we, as consumers of oil and its related products are ultimately responsible, but no-one in the court would care to listen, I think).

                    Thats what I think anyway...

                            Really simple guys.
                            Great product.
Plug it so I can start buying in good conscience again.

I don't think boycotting BP in light of the issues in the Gulf is smart. That could have happened to any oil company and if we collectively avoid BP, then they are less likely to be able to afford the clean up effort.

Their fuel is also the best and I have a BP card, so I won't switch.
