  • DPF Warning Light ...Just Chipped.Coincidence?

    Hi Peoples,

Last night i started the Car and the DPF warning light on MFD Instructions came on and "dinged" for a few seconds plus the orange DPF signal on the Tacho. The car has been at rest for 2hrs after a very spirited 45 min drive. The car has been chipped a week and at 35000km it is the first time this has happened.Any ideas- does the chip change fuel meterage etc and could it be the cause? After 1-2 mins driving the orange light went out.

    Thanks in advance.

I've had mine chipped for over 18 months and I've had no issues with warning lights etc.... At a guess from what I've read about the DPF it could well be partially blocked and may even need replacement. My GT TDI has always run a bit rough and feels like it's missing when the DPF goes through it's regen process but even that has improved slightly since the remap. If you have access to VAGCOM run a scan on it and see if's thrown up any error codes, if it has I'd be changing it back to the original map before taking the car into VW. It may just be a coincidence but just in case the map has caused it it's better to play it safe. Just out of curiosity what map did you install ?

    Cheers

      Thanks Russ,

Sage advise, now just have to find a nearby kind soul with Vag Com.Have only definatively felt it regenerate once or twice in all the time i have had it, although curiously on the morning of the evening it happened, there was some starting difficulty, which never happens. I chose Bluefin in the end.

Hey mate, I had a similar occurance last week but I have the Skoda Octy 2.0TDI RS. Took my car into the dealer and they said the throttle body was giving a "sporadic error".... Even though the MFD said it was the exhaust. Anyway since it was still under warranty they just replaced the throttle body. But when I was talking to one of the mechanics that worked on it, he mentioned that this is the 2nd Octy RS that has had this issue and recently there was a Golf GT TDI that had it too.

Since the new throttle body its running a lot smoother and throttle response is a lot more subtle, instead of all or nothing. So maybe look at your throttle body too if your up to it.

I would go back to the shop who chipped it just for check up and to be sure that everything is OK.

diesels do not have a throttle body. late vw diesels have a "throttle" flap that closes on shutdown and probably a tiny tiny bit for EGR purposes, but other than that will be open.
