    hi all.

i am about to purchase a provent in the next week or so, and was wondering if there's anyone in Sydney's west that can fit it for me ?

    any recommended installers ?
and roughly what should it cost me to have one fitted to a MK5 1.9 TDI golf ?

im not that mechanical, so ill need to pay someone to do it for me.

    Jason.

Oh well, it's a tough call, you need to find additionally appropriate tubing and figure out where to drop all those. It's a bit engineering task. It's on my list as well, but more likely I can do it with this year tax refund...

      fair dinkum fella's....

its a catch can, not really a big dealio and Cogdoc has a nice writup in his build thread about how to install one with pics and everything.... if you had a mechanic fit it, it might take an hour. so... expect to spend $100 IF (and only if) you supply him with everything he needs....

seriously though, get under there and have a go - theres only one way to learn. if you cant afford a saturday morning to spend tinkering with your VW, you've probably bought the wrong marque.... no offense intended, just the way i see it.

so really, i mean it in the bst of spirit - give it a go

I was thinking of installing one. It depends on when I pursue it but I'd be happy to do it with you so you could learn along the way.

It is very much about confidence though, understand you don't want to fiddle with a new car, but they really are as simple as old ones.

Some people have zero mechanical aptitude! Not implying that the OP does. But yeah.. not everyone should tinker under their bonnet. Especially if youre one of those people that doesnt put the lid back on the peanut butter jar tightly!

Having said that the boys are right when they say it should be relatively straight forward. Over the years in the IT industry ive seen some people do some absolutely ludicrous things though so yeah.. A firm believer in not everyone getting their hands dirty.

Happy to have a chat before and during anyone fitting a Provent. It's not a major thing if the plumbing and connections are thought out ahead of time.

That'd be me - hell, changing the headlight bulbs is challenging enough; I've managed to somehow jam one of the low beam clips, and I can't even see how that's possible!
