  • Extractors on a Mk1 Diesel

    Hello all,

I'm trying to squeeze some extra oomph from a 1.5 diesel and have heard that extractors make a nice improvement. What kind of extractors are suitable, ie: 4-1 vs 4-2-1? I believe that a 4-2-1 type gives a better spread of power instead of a narrow, peaky improvement with the 4-1 type but I've only seen 4-1 types available for the mk1. are 4-2-1 available?

    Cheers
    Matt

    Hey Matt

i know this is a little old but I was just wondering if you ever got your extractors hooked up to your GLD??? and if so did it make any difference? Or if anyone has put extractors on a mk1 diesel and has it made a difference.

Thats not your little GLD i see around near Mordi is it??

    Cheers mate

I had 4-2-1 on my 1.5D and it was pretty good. I doubt that 4-1 would help much. Actually, I had mk1 GTI exhaust - 4-2 cast manifold, 2-1 downpipe coming together just near the shifter box.

Hi mate. I'm waiting for delivery for my extractors but did u use the stock exhaust or did u go for something bigger?? If so what size did u use?

I'm also going to do air box mod to allow it to breathe better. Open it up to 80 mm and have cool air pulled from the front.

Then I will look at water/ meth injection. Similar to what I set up on my 300d merc.

I've done the governor mod and it pulls alot better now. How far did u end up taking ur 1.5?

        Cheers
