Ok so if I can get hold of this 1.9Turbo Diesel and box from a Golf 2, what needs to be done to fit it to an Ibiza, or Mk3 Golf?

I can physically get the motor and box to fit and connect up to driveshafts etc. Its complete with turbo and manifolds, but I have no idea what is needed for wiring or fuelling.

Will I be able to use / adapt the donor petrol tank?

Will I need bigger fuel lines?

    How much wiring is needed?

Its all theory atm, but I`m pretty serrious about the project and just need a little direction.

Go for it! If the donor motor is from a golf 2(ie non TDi) then the only electrical connection is the fuel stop solenoid on top of the fuel pump, apart from the starter motor & alternator.

You will also need a return fuel line to the tank. I'm not so sure about the tanks in the mk3 & ibeza though, in the mk1 the diesel has a baffle in it while the petrol ones don't.

Lots of info on www.tdiclub.com, including some petrol -> diesel conversion stories.

      1.9??

To my knowledge, the 1.9 motor was never fitted to the Golf 2. The Golf 3 was the first to get it.

Building on what Peter said you will also need a fuel tank return line and to wire a telltale for the glowplugs.... Oh and a glowplug relay. Make sure you get the complete fuel filter setup too. 5/16" Fuel lines are fitted to the diesel but I don't think an increase in diameter is that critical in our Oz climate.

Its definately a TD Lump, may be 1.6??
The SEAT will have a fuel return line, but I dont know how big the lines are.
        Wiring doesnt sound too hard.
Can I use the stock fuel pump? Its an intank jobbie?

That's more like it. It would be the 1.6 TD

          They're probably 1/4"

No in-tank pump. The vane transfer pump in the Bosch VE injection pump does all of the work.
Another thought (if it goes into a Seat) is the gear linkages
