2.14 litre 150kw and 500nm twin turbo diesel beastie!

Hope the rumoured twin turbo TDI chases these guys!

Pretty impressive torque figures, but I don't think I'd like to own one (and be paying for repairs) of the twin turbo setup when it was 10 years old and had 240,000Km on the clock. (but I am a bit conservative with new technology)

Your basic Mercedes owner with a rolling novated lease probably doesn't care too much

That said, it'd probably be pretty reliable. MB engines tend to be overengineered.

Five f@#$ing hundred newtons and you are quibbling over long term repair bills? Slap yourself Greggo!! Where do I get one???

My FPV GT had 520nm, and was a blast in an 1800kg car!

Even with all that torque, the Mercedes is still pretty slow. 7.0 sec 0-100km/h. Yay for 500Nm but unable to beat your average BA Falcon taxi. Which costs less to run (LPG). Ouch.

Give me the FPV GT's 520Nm any day.

A 5.4L twin cam V8 Ford that whilst a whole lot of blokey fun, pales in quality compared to a south african assembled Golf in my opinion. I used to average 17L/100k too!! The car i traded on the Golf, and so glad I did now given the price of fuel and fall in price of thirsty cars.

All I miss is the sound.

                See the dynograph?

The torque curve drops like a lead ballon, no thanks!

I think some of you may have looked past the fact that this is only 2.14L

That's an amazing effort considering only a couple of year's ago BMW's 3.0L 6 cyl. was making that!

thats huge numbers from a relatively small capacity diesel....

some of you fellas need to think before shooting something down like that!

damn, the amount of technology in that is astonishing, however I'm wary of the repairs when something does eventually break, despite MB's heavy engineering and testing...
