youll be happy to know (brackie ) that i am in search of a MK1 GLD that i can swap for my 2 door mk1 so i can embark on my own Bio Diesel project. I have obtained a recipe for Bio Diesel off a very helpful website and I may be making a test batch soonish.
So if anyone wants to swap a Mk1 GLD for a 2door MK1. PM me!!!

Both worlds

Yeah.. With a petrol and a diesel Mk1 you'll have the best of both worlds. Petrol for fun and diesel for economy. (Bet you drive the diesel most, though )

Who said diesels had to be slow? i was thinking a performance diesel running on bio fuel maybe an engine out of a later model with slightly higher turbo boost pressure and the like... i have some idea about modding petrol engines, but absolutely no idea where to start with diesels but it would be an awesome project.
