Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • late 2014 MY14 or MY15

Hi who knows what build date month in 2014 did the MY change from 14 to 15 ?

Model year changes around August. There's a particular week, but I can't remember it off the top of my head.

Week 22 in production is the update or MY15 changes.

        Hi
I thought it was August too but it must be "flexible"
Mine is an MY16 - but the build date is June '15
the serial number is mid 1800's so I'm guessing early in the model run
When we ordered it the MY16 hadn't been announced - didn't even know that a "new" model was coming
At that stage it had just landed in Oz, August last year

The transition usually falls around the end of May in terms of build week (it's usually week 22 but has varied in the past, from 21-25 depending on the model and MY).

Cars built late May will often arrive into Australia around early August.

            Thanks AdamD for clarifying that
So there is nothing unusual in an MY16 being built in June
not that it makes any difference (to me) but must admit I was curious based on the incorrect assumption that August was change over date
When we ordered the car in August the dealer gave us a print out of the reservation sheet for the car
and that had the build details on it including the VIN number where the 10th letter is the model or "MY year", in my case "G"
