    Thanks Brad
I must have had a sheltered life as I've never come across this before
presumably when you close the door the window moves back up the few mm
and again presumably this has to do with the absence of door frame

Sorry guys - didn't mean to hijack the thread
I'm glad that VW have finally agreed there is a problem and will change the window motor

Hopefully they find the problem. lucky its under warrantee. i hate it when mechanics start replacing things just because.

Forgot to update this post, thanks for the reminder zoolander.
VW replaced the passenger side window motor on Monday and so far so good. They didn't charge me for the loan car which I thought was nice. Just waiting to see whether that has fixed the problem. Also received another Hoppys Car Wash voucher.
As they handed my car back to me they said see you for your 60k service. It would be tempting to use them if they weren't so crazy expensive (last check it was $1000+ for the 60k service). I am rapidly approaching that interval as well, just cracked 51500kms. Only just had the last service done

Gave up with the VW Service dept and bought a new battery this morning. I started getting issues with the RCD unit not coming on until the car was moving and that with the passenger window I just bit the bullet and replaced the battery. Will see what happens now, if the problems magically go away then I shall be popping by VW Service and having a chat. If the problems return then I still have 4 months warranty left to just leave it with them until they fix it.

Well, pleased to report that after 3 weeks its been faultless since I had a new battery installed. Surprise, surprise! If only VW had just replaced it rather than the window motor. That money they could have saved could have gone towards the emissions scandal

good you got it sorted mate, battery longevity appears to be an issue with my car too although it doesn't get used all that often...

does that mean vw will cough up for your new battery now?

I was thinking of going back to VW about it but I honestly can't be bothered as I know it'll be a fight to get them to pay for it. I did think briefly about getting them to do the 60k service but now I won't worry and take it back to the guy at Milton who did the last service and save $300-$400.

Had the same problem, Car struggling to start and windows, sunroof playing up! changed the battery and was all fine! Had the car for just over 2 years brand new was told the battery should last up to 5, guess not!

They were accurate as the battery did last up to 5 years.

Put another way: "Don't expect your battery to last beyond 5 years"
