  • How comfortable is comfort?

I'm thinking about getting a Sirocco and was wondering if the adjustable dampers made much of a difference.

I have reached old fart status and have had surgery on my back so I'm looking for something I can live with on Sydney's roads.

I'd love to hear what you think of the comfort setting, is it better or worse than a standard Mk6 GTI?

On Comfort it's a touch softer than my wife's Mk V GTI, and the steering is about as light as the GTI.
On Normal it's a touch firmer than the GTI.

Thanks! Sounds good, anything would be better than my Abarth!

I reached old fart status recently aswell and got a scirocco last year, comfort is night and day between sport, and normal is awesome for daily driving. I only use comfort, when I know a road I'm about to drive on has lots of drainholes/potholes/cracks, when the road is normal/decent its on normal mode, and only use sport when I want to turn pretty fast.

The 3 settings are all noticeably different and you will change them based on the road conditions and how you feel.

I think the first thing to worry about regarding comfort is the seats in the Scirocco!

They look nice, but they are very deep and not the best for long drives, or for someone with a bad back.

I wouldn't consider myself as old fart status yet, and I already struggle sitting in them for lengthy periods of time. Even needed to purchase a travel back/lumber support lol.

The seats in the GTI's are much more comfortable (MKV) than the Scirocco. Still, I'm willing to sacrifice seating comfort driving the Scirocco instead if the MKV GTI

          Cheers,

I had a look at a very nice Sirocco yesterday, you're right Andy the seats are rather flat once you get over past he sides and no lumbar support, which would upset my back after a while. I also looked at a new 103 TSI highline, the seats were much better.

It's a bit of a shame, the Sirocco I looked at was like new

Yeah, the seats are probably one of the only things that let the Scirocco down. Its a pleasure to drive, and on all my commutes so far I haven't had an issue with the seats, but I wish they came with the european leather recaros. My old car had red suede recaros as standard from factory and they were the best seats.

Comfort also lightens the steering, sport makes heavier.
For that extra minimal effect, drop the tyre pressure a couple psi?
