Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Well finally the stuff arrived...:)

Late October last year I managed a deal for a 1.8 T engine and O2J trans to be shipped to me from the states, At about the same time the engine was going to my shipper in LA, I decided to do the MK1 get together in LA, so a 2 week trip to the states netted me 2 doors and 2 inner fenders I removed from a Mk1 Scirocco in the Seattle area.

The panels were all well boxed ( double layers of boxes to avoid damage to the skins)..

they went to the shipper along with all the stuff for the engine...

After hanging about LA for a few weeks they were loaded in a mate's container with 3 cars and 4 V8 engines...

Went and picked up the goods today ..

the engine & trans was looking good, apparently Aust Customs had opened the box and requested it all be power washed...

Then I got to the panels...

the inner fenders looked alright, but apparently they had dropped a door when washing the insides out...

Should be able to pull the dent / bend out alright, but it pi**es me to say the least..Rant rant rant.....
    Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

    Cheers,
    Grant...

    Ranting

You've got a good right to rant! I'd be sending them the bill for repair!

I just got a container too and same story. Quarantine lost 2 wheels, dented a bonnet and a door and scraped a bootlid. You can fill in a million forms, and they`ll pay you what it cost you, not replacement value. Not really fair. They must be idiots, unpacking a container and laying a shiny bonnet shiny side down, piling heavy stuff on top and then roping down hard is idiocy in my book.
