Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • MFD Alternative Display

When I change it to the alternative display mode, where it shows more of the information on the screen instead of one single thing, the speed shows as MPH and not KPH. I have set it to KPH in the settings, but only in the alt display does it show MPH. Is this the same for everyone else?

I hope that make sense :S

I thought the alternative display was used to change between MPH and KMH, not to display more info?

It's just meant to be a slightly different layout of the information. Anyways, I looked it up on the Golf forums and found that its just the way they've designed it, with no known work-around. Oh well.

All the information i have read pointed to people using it when they cross the border from the US to Canada as it switches between MPH and KM/H

Never knew it had a different layout.

The Alternate Speed Display is all about giving you a mph readout when your MFD and speedometer are configured for km/h (such as in Australia), and vice versa - good for Europeans driving between the UK (mph) and the continent (km/h), for instance.

It doesn't give you more info - the mph display takes the place of the temperature display in most Golfs (and presumably the 'Roc), and also disables the large km/h page in the MFD.
