Sorry to revive this thread. Need an opinion/feedback:

CW Roc + gloss black rims OR gunmetal rims? I'm leaning to gunmetal as it sets it apart from the other CW cars with black.

        Gunmetal for sure.
Black loses the details and also doesn't look black after brake dust settles.

Yeah that's my pref too. Now the hunt to find a good place to get them done that's not an hours drive! I face the challenge of living in an apartment block and can't jack up the car for a couple days while they're getting coated.

---------- Post added at 06:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:07 PM ----------

Saw my first R today on the road.

Indium 9 V plate DR ??? cnr of Orrong and Inkerman roads. Took a good long look while I was sitting waiting for the lights. Really impressed. A very classy car.

Pity my car is now delayed to September

Has to be gunmetal...pretty much as per the pic in the " standard rim color" thread.

Yeah that's wha I'm going with. Just need to figure out how to get em done.

Three emails to three powder coaters. Zero responses.

Powdercoat is very limited in color choice... Plus...if you damage it slightly (it will happen) you have to have the whole wheel stripped, blasted and powdercoated again...

Painting means you can get the exact color you want... And is far easier to repair in the future...just my 2 cents worth..

I like the first, but seeing it in black they look sweet. Wonder how they would be in gunmetal.

Yeah they're pretty sweet eh. They look good in black. Just not sure how good VMRs are. Reading mixed reviews. Quite heavy too. Those are 11kg corner weight. If I pick em up they need to at least be lighter than the tallas. Trying to find out the corner weight of those.

Unless you are going to track the car on a regular basis wheel weight has pretty much no bearing your everyday driving...
And if you are going to track it.....get 18's or even 17's as dedicated track wheels... 19's are not what you want on the track.

VMR's are a good wheel for the $ you pay... You cannot compare them to OZRacing or ADV01's etc

Yeah I hear ya. OZ Wheels Ultraleggera for just over double the price of the VMRs. Not bad I guess.

Sorry to drag up an old thread but here is the story....

As you can see below my DSG indium with roof, dyn and Nav has been delayed from a June/July delivery to and August/September delivery.

When the dealer delivered the 'good news' (his words not mine) I was a bit taken a back and asked him if he could find any other suitable cars that might arrive a bit earlier. I'm only prepared to consider a change of colour not spec.

So this is what he has come up with:

Candy DSG, Dyn and roof. Apparently they can dealer fit the RNS510. It would arrive in May/June. I haven't got the price yet (the original deal was 57.5k on road) but there are some additional costs for the dealer to fit the RNS rather than at the factory.

So folks what do you think....

Take the not quite to spec car earlier or wait for the one I want? Probably three additional months.

I'm tempted to stay with the original spec because:
I think the grey unusual. I don't mind the CW though.
I don't need to get out of the Bimmer in a hurry, driving it is not really a chore.
And I thinking it will costs some extra for the dealer to fit the RNS when I can get it for the deal I've done

                              Opinions welcome.

PS: does a retro fit RNS maintain all the original factory capabilities such as blue tooth, voice, ipod connectivity etc?

The additional costs would be pretty high as they will charge you Parts price for the RNS510... better to purchase your own via E-bay. there is a trusted source from Eastern Europe and the unit is around $900 delivered.. fitting is easy as is the coding.. plenty of info in the Mk6 and Audio forums.

You have been keen on Iridium from the get-go... a couple of months in the grand scheme of things is not much... plus you dont need to get out of the Bimmer.. I say stay true to your first choice...

It should be fine apart from not having the Sat Antennae in the Shark Fin. the receiver will be double sided taped on top of the middle vents.. under the dash.
