Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Wear and Tear on the Seats

    Hi All,

I have had the car for nearly two months now and I am averaging above 1.5 hours a day of driving time. This is fine as it is my daily work drive.

My concern is that the drivers seat and its materials are going to look worn very quickly compared to the rest which is usually empty. (Weekends the wife has the passenger seat for some trips)

What can I do to help keep the seat in good shape? Apply some products? Seat cover that actually suits the seat (Airbag and all). Suggestions please

Also, what should I be doing with the rest of the interior, any recommended sprays etc?

    Thanks,
    MJ

These guys make canvas and sheepskin covers that allow for seat airbag deployment.

Sheepskin Tailors - The Finest Custom Sheepskin Car Seat Covers in Australia

I have a set I purchased used for my MkV Pirelli and it has holes where the airbags are located. The sheepkin is premium quality and is really thick and comfy. They are very well made and custom made to fit exactly. Original cost according to the seller was $850 incl headcovers from sheepskintailors and I got them for just $250 off him on Ebay.

I brought mine to the attention of my dealer who managed to get VW to change the covers under warranty
