Okay, I thought since you upgraded to 6 pot brakes it would be seing some track work.

          Black wheels on Candy White

So i've decided I am gonna black my wheels

I think I would prefer a slightly glossy finish to match the other trim (eg. mirrors, rear tray etc.)

In which case - assume I'm better going with paint rather than powder coat?

          Thanks,
          A

That is my opinion too (paint vs powder for gloss) and I think gloss black on white car looks great. But 'eye of the beholder' etc

              + 1 for painting.

I had mine painted after curbing them within the first month of ownership, and 6+ months on they still look amazing.

i am torn between matte and gloss for my wheel

may plasti dip them with both options and then which ever i prefer will be the final permanent finish Painted or powder coated.

plasti dip just do yourself, very easy and you dont even have to remove your tyres.

Lots of videos online on it and there is a local supplier of the paint cans also.

Cheap way to try if you like.

If you dont like it, it peels straight off.

Thanks. Looks like ordering non aerosol cans and a spray gun from the US will be half the price of buying spray cans in AUS.

I was told powder coating stays longer than painting, I may prefer matt black looking as opposite to gloss black - my personal preference only. Gloss black may be too eye catching

Here is how a matt black may look like:
