Check the inline fuel filter for rust flakes ( hopefully none ) and change the said filter...all helps.

Thanks Dom. Yeah she is a ripper, just needs some ironing out.
Thanks also Grant for the advice, you've been wonderfully helpful. No chunks in the fuel filter, all new filters on the way and I reckon I'm going to pitch for the weber conversion, put my wheel plans on hold for the time being.
Got to get her sorted for Day of the VW at the end of the month!
