I used to own a Mk1 yellow Scirocco last registered as PAN 403 in NSW. This was one of the motorshow cars that VWA brought in.

It was badly rusted when I bought it and I used another (red) bodyshell and spent over $16000 getting it to assembly stage with a bare metal 2 pack respray etc etc then had to sell it when I closed my motor racing business in 2000.

I sold it for a fraction of what it cost me to a chap in Melbourne and have since lost all trace of it.

Anyone know what came of it?

I forgot to mention that it was a TS. I seem to recall that it was the only TS brought in by VWA.

Forgot about Carol's ( think thats her name) silvergreen storm. not seen it for ages. My daily hack is still the dark green car you would have seen at Wade's place.

still have my silvergreen storm tho...

            I love it, looks fantastic!

Viper green really is a cool colour for something that's 30 years old!

Looking really good there Dave, that RHS repair looks to be well executed.
I would seriously consider going with a larger radiator for Aust conditions though. Got some 525mm wide units here btw.

Did you keep the clips that hold the rear quarter window trims in place , there no longer available anywhere on planet earth !!

Took many hours to get it there Grant. Two inches of filler from the cowboy job before to just a scim in a few places. You can still see just a bit of a ripple but I am happy with the result. Still a couple of high spots in the lacquer that the painters will have to fix once its finished but they did a good job.
In my box of nuts, bolts and plastic bits I think they are there the clips. Need to get those seals for the rear quarter window from you some time and I see your mate Randy might have the seal finished for the rear window early in the new year.
I would have to take your word on it Grant about the radiator as I have only own two others in Glasgow which is not renowned for scorching temps. lol

I was asked for an update of how things were going so since last night was a good night I will let you know.
Got the engine and gear box a while ago and eventually got some new rubber piping for the cooling sytem also change the old two speed heater fan for a slightly newer 3 speed one. Then add water only to see it piss out the bottom of the radiator and the two frezer plugs at the side of the inlet manifold. So Grant got his way and I had to fit a new larger radiator and eventually found a guy in Wales UK that did the freezer plugs. Got the wrong size 15.3mm hole so you would think a 15mm freezer plug would fit wrong its the 16mm that fits.
So last night made a couple brackets to support the radiator fan for the larger radiator and filled the cooling system up with water, no leaks and turned the key.
Could hear immediatly that I had the timing wrong and this was confirmed as petrol was ejected out the top of the Weber carb.
A quick adjustment and after a couple of turns the 1471cc fired into life for the first time in a couple of years. Happy as a pig in **** and had a few beers to celebrate.
Next is to finish off fitting a new roof lining supplied by Newton Commercial. This is taking a long time because it took a while to find a glue that would work Newton Commercial recomend Fast fix which you cant get here but eventually found a contact adhesive from K & H to be best suited.
Also pain in the arse cutting corners to fit but getting there. From there get the glass back in a few wiring problems, new suspension bushes to fit, bleed the brakes and find a couple of new front seats as the old ones are rooted.
will post a few more pictures shortly.

A couple more pictures to ponder over.
All going well might be about ready to get it on the road by the end of the year.
