Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Quick question

A friend of mine has a MY10 vw beetle, it's a 6 speed auto, just wondering if its a DSG or not? Does it have the huge 60,000km auto service that the DSG has?

    Cheers

It should have 'DSG' stamped into the gearstick if it does.

Other way to check, is to detirmine whether the fluid pan is on the front, or on the bottom of the transmission.

      Bottom - Auto.

      Front - DSG.

No New Beetles (2000-2010) were ever sold with the DSG transmission

60K service is a transmission (oil & filter change) service, no matter what VW.
I believe the oil costs through the dealer upto $50ish a litre but aftermarket companies do sell an equivalent for around $25-$35 a litre.
