Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

damn man car looks killer .. hows the handling like with the air ride ? always figured it would be too soft and not very good around the bends as opposed to standard strut/spring or coilover ? show a nother pic with the headlight covers might actualy work with the car

Thanks dude. Yeh the handling is not bad. Firmer and less body roll when I ride low of course so I like it.

Seen your car again at the Pav the other day haha. Where abouts in Dandy do you live?

Yeah guess it doesn't compare to top of the range coilovers but I don't mind it.
Ohh yeh. South Dandy, near Ritchies IGA.

So got the car back from the paint shop.
Not happy at all with the result.

Paint came out with the "orange peel" look.
Also the bonnet and boot have crappy buff marks.
Really shattering. It has to go back after everyone gets back from the holidays.
                  Big headache

Il post a before and after photo later.

Wet sand them out? .. Machine polish.

bit of work, maybe a day but not that severe really!

Buff marks are from panel beaters who can't machine polish. You will find them throughout the whole car to where they have machined unfortunately! I wouldn't have them detail the car if i were you.. it'll just get worse!
                      What’s behind you doesn’t matter..

along the lines of what pierre has said, maybe get Final Inspection to detail the car, and send the bill to the panel shop, rather than them doing more paint, or more damage to the paint.

Final Inspection are regarded as the best in Melbourne, if I'm not mistaken.

                          Thanks guys!

I might drop by Final Inspection and see what they think.
Yeah a mate who's a panel beater/painter said it takes about 8 hours worth of work to possibly make it normal.

Here is what I mean by the difference:
The original is in better quality than the new camera phone one but you can tell.

Bloody key marks... and thats the good side haha

                          and the new paint

Personally i wouldn't say the best. Have you seen his products? Rebranded ..... and his pads? terrible lol. (have a box here that he sent that will never be used!)

There are quite a few good ones in Melbourne. He is good, but i wouldn't say the best. Probably the most "self hyped" detailer lol.

For the money you will spend on the madina wheels they are a bit exxy dude for t9 forged from china! Same colours or going different centres?

hahaha thats fair enough. Who would you recommend in Melbourne?
I have a mate who has worked with wheels for a while so I wont be paying top dollar.
Yeh same centres. Not a fan of black version.
