I'll ring that Karmann shipping today carpoid cheers mate, I'm fairley confident that aussie will be blessed with another corrado next year one way or another.
TT dash could be a plan to just bring it up to date abit could try an add aircon if i go to that level of expence though!
So carpoid all in all what did it cost you to get yours there and on the road??

Well i spent last night ringing the RTA etc and seems I can bring it but do need to do the coversion first and get it aproved by an engineer there so it's all pending on the cost of the conversion, realy i dont want to spend more than 500 pounds on it as the import will cost close to 3000!!!
I spoke to Karmann and got a better quote so cheers for that.

I'd be tempted to buy a G60 when I go back if a conversion is 500 quid. Be interested to hear what quotes you get.

All up i paid, for shipping with Karman in a sole use container,
1500 pounds
Then i had to pay all the customs, quarantine valueation and GST etc etc,
AU$3700
Then compliance, child seat restraints and the underside rustproofed,
AU$1387
Then Rego, cost of euro plates and more Taxes/GST,
AU$712

Not cheap, and not the cheapest option either, i shipped it in a container because i wanted to fill it up with my Record Collection and my tools, also it was the quickest way to do it (4 weeks)

What do you mean about it being nearly 15 yrs old ??
If you mean importing it under the 15yr old rule then its no go as it must be registered before 1st Jan 1989.
As long as you've owned the car for more than 12 months and been insured and in the UK theres nothing stopping you apart from money...........

I thought that if it was 15 years old i may get it in lhd but thats 30 years aparently for things like mustangs e.t.c..
Thats about what i worked out price wise just the added expense of the conversion first so thats what it's resting on, just got to way it up cos it's a nice chunk of our moving funds and i need to keep enough for a deposit on a house.....car or house mmm?? haha

If it was just 8.500 aus$ it would be alot but could do it. But the lhd thing would be an extra 2500 ish for the conversion so i'm looking at $11.000 which is to much so im gonna have to bite the bullet and sell her here and look for somthing different over there, The sacrafice of moving to Aussie man i hope it's worth it 'cos i love that car.
I see theres a few mk3 vr6's there so i'll look for one of them or a mk4 gti I supose i could even get a hilux and fit in haha.

I can't own/use a rhd one for the year needed and can't find any info on this buy with an export reciept option seems a no go. I can picture my aussie house with a corrado on the drive but if i bring the rrado i wont be getting a house !!
I gave my self a limit of 500 for the conversion and it's gonna top that by atleast double
Still i may keep the car here for a while and do it bit by bit on the cheap... who knows.
Just want to get over there now even if it means a 5 door golf

I know this is a VW site but I'm desperate for some advice.

My wife and I move to Oz in a week and I've seen a BMW E30 M3 for sale in Oz but it's LHD. From what I understand this causes all kinds of issues and I have no idea where I'd stand if I bought it.

P.s.: if it helps, I've owned a few Scirroco's over the years and they rock!

Basically it needs converting to Rught Hand Drive before you can register it and drive it legally on thr road.
Not a simple job, but possible, especially if you could get a dash etc here in Australia? I don't know if they were sold as RHD here ??

Have a google for dotars.com.au, you'll find all the info there, i think you can have a left hooker if its just used for shows or something ?? Also if it is 30 odd years old, you'll see LHD Mustangs etc here.
