Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I doubt 7.5 inches are legal either.
Whats the widest rim listed on the car's tyre placard? I think the largest rim on an up is 16x6. Therefore you would most likely be limited to a 7 inch width rim.Last edited by pologti18t; 29-10-2012, 01:48 PM.

Yeah 7.5" aren't legal either but to get any decent rim I gotta go wide. Thet are passing MOT in the UK with 7.5 and 8s so there shouldn't be a problem.BMW E36 M3 3.0L LTW - SZYBKI

It isn't just width, it is offset. Every rego time for my old Datto 1600 I would have to put on stock rims, because the old kidney style rims that were probably on since the car was only a few years old added 1" to the track (wheel centre to wheel centre) which is not legal as they claim it puts undue stress on bearings and screws steering geometry.
The silly thing is if the rims were 0.5" wider (towards the middle of the car) the track would have passed.Last edited by tonymy01; 29-10-2012, 03:53 PM.---

I was messing around with the headlights on our Up! last night (fitting some LED replacement DRL lamps) and accidentally shorted the terminals inside the lamp holder, and blew a fuse. The fuse box location is in an absolute bastard of a spot, and it doesn't have a fuse layout diagram to find which is the right one, so here I am at 10pm huddled up upside down in the most uncomfortable position ever, pulling out every last fuse to find which one had blown. Haha - that was not fun! But eventually got it sorted. Ended up leaving the stock bulbs in for now until I do some more tests on the LED lamp.
