Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Green light for up! GT

According to Volkswagen’s R&D chief Ulrich Hackenberg, the sporty Up GT will finally go on sale in 2013. For those who don’t know, the Up GT was unveiled in a concept form last year and featured a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine delivering 100 PS, a lot, as the total weight of the car is only 900 kg. The engine will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Moreover, the vehicle will feature a new design consisting of a new central cooling air intake with a honeycomb grille, new wing-shaped LED daytime running lights, black door mirrors, side sills, a roof spoiler as well as a new exhaust system with two chromed tailpipes. The design will be completed by a new set of 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in high performance tires.

I'm in to see how much this costs when it drops next year. $14k for the base level Up! seems a good place to start.
Definitely looks a nifty awesome little car!

such a shame the stud pattern is 4x100 - or those wheels would be sick on a Polo! Gonna have to buy a MK1 now so I can buy the wheels!
