  • Mk3 rim choices

Dad's needing new rims for his MK3 as the current ones are out of round badly, at least one, and he can't be stuffed with them anymore, just wondering what other car rims are interchangeable with them, in regards to offset, like E30's?

Is there other cars that will have the same offset? I'm looking through the For sale on here and there isn't much that's within his price range (he wont' shell out for a set of BBS 16's at $1300 for some reason....) also looking on other forums, yet to try Vortex, where else can I try?

Get these... I want them. And before anyone starts complaining about quality, have a think about all those audi/vw reps people roll on, which are exactly the same and do perfectly fine as do my own sportmax's.

    These would look sooo awesome

Ugly, and too wide, this is his DD, I think he'd prefer to keep 15's for some sort of ride quaility... But that's a good start.

what sort of wheel are you after. ebay isn't doing too bad at the moment. e30 has the same centrebore (you wont need hubcentric rings) and PCD. oh, and offset. also, raid Wabit's place.

there are usually multispokes on ebay

Hey mate tell your dad there will be hardly any differences in 15-16 wheel change. Think about it, it's only this |--------------| much bigger-ish!

the sidewall atm isn't much bigger then that, and the car tramlines pretty easily as it is and 16" tyres are more expensive aren't they?

TBH not actually too sure. I don't think they're much different if at all though, because my 15" BBS tyres (some crapish brand) cost me like 80 bucks a corner lol, but Falkens are around-about $90-110 a corner, and i'm currently looking at a 16" size that will keep stock rolling diameter, and i don't think they're more than $100-120.

well actually. i picked up bridgestone potenza adrenalins for 105 a piece. i mean, they're not re050as', but they're bloody good tyres. 205/45/16 (which is the size mk3 would have) is definately not cheaper than that.

i reckon hit up ebay and lurk in some e30 forums. bmw dont have an aussie forum.

good luck. get some 15x7s and you can have a nice looking mk3 with a tad bit of stretch, with all the practicality and comfort of higher profile.

Exactly my thinking.... Thanks for the tips, Dad wants something that won't need any work as the current rims did.
