  • What Camber can you run on a Mk1

We went for a play in the rain yesterday in this 16v Mk1.

She was a bit skippy with the camber as pictured! Could have been the water too

What sort of angle do you blokes reckon is best?

1.2-1.5 (neg) is enough for spirited drives........but it all depends on what tyres you run and how strong the side walls are.

have you had a chance to arrange for the down pipe pick up yet mate?

Most of the factory spec that I have seen in the wheel alignment machines for MK1 & 2's is around -0.5 but on my Mk1 I used to have it closer to -1 and that was good.

I used to run all the camber I could get on my MK1 then track it up afterwards. It didn't chew tyres on me and I used to do lots and lots of miles in that car. Believe me, if it had run the tyres off I'd have been straight on it.

I ran 1.5 neg on Gunter with 2 m/m toein and never worn out the insides of the tyres in road events or around the roads. On the track was different cause of wheelspin. Very soft compound tyres too
Rear? I ran heaps of neg too!!!
