Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Is that a unusual profile ?
I checked eBay/tradingpost, none available. I have a 15x6 wheel and calculated 175/55R15 is the best fit and maintain same rolling diameter as 175/70R13

    Very much so.

    I suggest normal is 195, 55 R15. Roughly.

Why you going 55 ? 50 is more common also

    195 / 50 R15 is the most common !

Maybe ditch the wheel and get something that will take a 195.

175 isn't really wide enough anyway....

Are you saying 195/50x15 is too wide for a 15"x6" rim?

195/50x15 is perfect fitment for a 15"x6" rim. Rim width range is 5.5"-7".

The only 175/55x15 tyres you will get are all season/snow tyres which perform fairly crappy in Australian temperature conditions - unless you live in Thredbo.

edit: 175/55x15 should be on 5.5" rims (5"-6" rim range)
