Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Using mk6 springs in mk4

Hey guys, just need a quick questions answered.
I'm just in the market for a stock set of springs for my mk4 golf, I came across a guy selling a set from a mk6 and he tells me they will still work.
Keep in mind I'll be using the stock mk4 strut and stuff, these are just the springs.
I find it so hard to believe they will be the same but then again I'm hoping they are because I need some and he lives very close.

    Cheers

While I haven't checked, I highly doubt they will work

I'd imagine the weight of both cars would be quite different and also the way it's distributed front to rear will be different. There's a reason for manufacturers to specify what works with what - even across Mk4 models the springs vary based on engine type.

        I really doubt it.

Do a deal - if they fit you'll pay, if they don't he can have them back
