Anyone done a DIY fix up on gutter rash?

Hey Guys,
The old Diablos are looking a bit gutter rashed these days Has anyone here attempted to fix up their wheels using filler or liquid steel or anything? Was thinking of sanding them back, filling, shaping and painting, anyone who can give me any tips/experiences it would be greatly appreciated

I've seen some pics but and they used body filler on the wheels and primered and painted them up. nothing a bit of T&E and a fresh spray can't fix

I guess I was worried with using body filler that it would come off easily when u get new tyres etc put on with the tyre lever things they use?

I've attempted fixing up gutter rash by sanding back as much as I can. Any pits I proceeded onto using bondo for metal epoxy (the one Selleys make). Mind you, I wire brushed the pits so it was just exposed metal for the epoxy to adhere to. Then, like Jarred said, primer then paint. My spray painting skills are shocking so they didn't come out very nice but they were much better than in their scratched up state before.

Thanks for the help guys, I'm still undecided on whether to do this or not. Might just get some new rims if the $$ allow. Depends if I can find anything I like that doesn't cost a fortune, everything I like so far is hideously expensive

shoot up a few pics.

best way is to file down any excess metal and as Ray said also wirebrush..

then sand it down a bit more, sand around so all the metal is bare and use filler and then sand down the filler and prime it.. sand it, prime it again and spray it.. use light coats if you do and then a clear coat. thats very DIY and you wil get a good result providing if you've TAKEN your time to do it.

however the money you spend $30-40 materials you might as well pay the extra $40-50 on top and take it to a wheel repairer and get it done, im unsure anyone in melb but maybe MTWC (mag wheel tyre centre) could help you out possibly as they are quite useful for me over the years when ive needed things from down there.

Thanks heaps Fuzion, much appreciated If i was to spend $100 per wheel or so, which I think a repair and respray would cost I'd probably more inclined to get some new wheels but I'll definitely look into it.
