Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Coilovers installer Sydney metro area

Just bought Beilstein B14 for GTi 6 and need an installer around Sydney metro area.

Can you pls recommend a place and an estimated price?

    Thanks in advance.

Any suspension place or independant VW specialist. It isn't rocket surgery.

Camden GTI at Campbelltown can do it - if they can't, tell Matt to ring brad & I'll come & do it on sub-contract.

      Rev Rite Performance Silverwater.

Fred - super experienced, works by himself so you won't have some apprentice screwing with your car.

He installed my Bilstein B14's 2 weeks ago. I have been taking my cars there for years (modified Supra's / Silvia's) Would not let any one else touch my cars. Takes his time and takes care, old school mechanic.

      Cost me around $400 labour.

Ended up going to Heasman Steering due to live not too far from them.

Now I have question, I setup the B14 to the lowest setting ie 25"ftg, I need to lower the rear again by around 1cm.
Is it safe to take the locking ring (the one on top of the adjustment ring) off?? by doing this I'd get about 1cm lower.
Will the height adjustment move eventhough its on the last thread?

        Has anyone done this?

Thinking of upgrading the car - not sure if I should leave the bilstein in the car.
