Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 19 inch Talladegas on GT Sport?

    Hi All,

As the title says, I need to know if 19 inch Tallies are going to fit on my GT Sport.

I realise they will fit, but will they rub? am assuming I'd need to run 225s rather than 235 ? any other issues with width? legal?

I've seen some photos around the interwebs, but don't know anyone with these on a MkV

    thanks

Just mind out there's a different offset used on Scirocco to Golf R if you're going for a set of second-hand OEM rims.

If they are from a GOLF R they will be fine.

225/35s may not have the correct load rating.
Both rococo and golf wheels should fit, rococo ones just being 10mm or so more filling in regards to offset

Also consider what height you're going to be running at. As pointed out I don't think you'll get a legal load rating with 225's forcing you to go to 235's and in which case you'll most likely get rubbing issues if you're running less height than stock. Pretty sure the Golf R's wheels are 19x8 with an ET of 50 so these with 235's would end up sticking out 6mm more than mine do ( I have 18x7.5, ET 45 and 225's ) and I've got some pretty bad rubbing issues at 50mm drop- at 55mm I can't even turn the wheels.
