  • Tyre wearing out on the edge

Is it a known problem with the rear tyres wearing out on the inner wall.

Was for my old Saab. Kinda depends on the camber & castor. Best to get your alignment done.

        It's mk6 gti
        Front camber was fine,
The rear was not wearing out evenly.
should they have neutral camber on the rear?

toe wear will normally 'tear' or feather at the tyre tread.

factory alignment for the mk6 gti sets rear wheels at 1 degree 45 minutes camber or 1.75 degrees, with tolerance +- 30 minutes or 0.5 degree camber.

if you don't rotate (or too lazy do DIY) your wheels at least once every 10,000km of course you will get uneven wear on the 4 tyres.

depending on how many k's you have done, if less than 25,000km then your alignment must be out!

Looks more like toe wear to me. Might swap the tyres around.

I've called VW Dealership, they think the camber should be neutral.
and suggested the tyre rotation to be only performed every 2 years.
                      Now I'm completely lost.

tyre rotation every 10,000km (as mentioned before) or 2 years (whatever comes first) would be ideal if you want to wear all 4 tyres evenly.
but seriously, find a decent alignment place.

                          Don't swap any tires
                          a) you will just ruin the tyres
                          b) you really want the wheel alignment place to see the problem

Get the car into a decent wheel alignment place asap
