  • Wheel storage

    Hello

Have bought a new set of wheels for my car, and want to keep the stockies to sell with the car when the time comes (which will be a few years from now)

Is there any particular way to store them, so they dont deteriorate ?

At the moment, they are just lying on top of each other in the corner of my garage

    Thanks

    These guys seem well informed

As said keep batteries and electric motors well away from them

It is highly unlikely that you would be able to match the storage conditions set out by Continental Tyres.

Why not sell them and buy a new set of tyres when you want to sell the car with standard wheels?

Continental are a bit over the top. I stored a set of Landcruiser wheels for about a year in the dark in my garden shed Just put some wood under them and put a tarp over them Made sure there was no electrics or chemicals in the shed.
They lasted 52,000k of use after that and never even got a puncture.

        Sunlight also deteriorates them

          Re: Wheel storage

My understanding is to wrap in black shrink wrap, and store in a dark dry location, like under the house. Keep out of the sun and water.

they are stock 15" polo wheels - incredibly hard to sell, and if i did, it would not be worth my time, probably lucky to get $200 for the full set with near new tyres, which is why im not bothering to sell

at the moment they are in the corner of my garage, not close to anything electrical. i might just cover them up, as they just need to be rwc when the time comes for me to sell.
