doesn't look ricey, not an expression I'd associate with that look.

However, I wonder how the police would perceive it?

        Nope...
Why do you think the tyre size looks ricey? Looks fine to me on my phone

Not at all Ricey. Wheels are far from JDM look. Might wanna address that rear camber a bit though, looks cool for sure, but it'll cost in tyre wear...

What I mean is that old cars should have more meat on the side wall.

            The tyres on there are 205 40 17 on a 17 x 7 rim

I ended up buying 205 50 17 which now I sort of regret.

Maybe I should swap for 45's?

Is 40 profile on a 205 enough for a daily driver?

                Ahh got ya.
Well small tyres aren't really ricey. Any car can have small profile tyres, doesn't class it as ricey.

I think it looks ok tho, but I wouldn't have much idea on what's right or wrong in aircooled.

Regards the tyre size fir daily, I think whatever you can put up with is fine. I'm currently rolling on 215/35s, other then my Speedo being way out and the wheel gap is huge at rolling hieght I think they are fine, little rough at times but I live with it

Yeah low profiles fine for modern cars just for vintage cars looks a bit funny.

For my vintage Audi i bought 205 50 17's which are the same wheels as the above but with 50 profile will it be a little too much? Wheels are 17 x 7 in width.

the below pics of an Audi with the same wheels but he is running 35's on the front and 40's at the back

                  so 40's vs 50's thoughts?

Do you need 205s for clearance?
I'd just do close to stock rolling diameter, normally looks best

but is 40's enough for comfort? Maybe i do 45 just in case.

If it's gonna be slammed, I'd run the lowest profile, looks better to me. I was running 40 profile on 17" on my A3, way undersized but looked hectic slammed. Airred up looked ridiculous.
