Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • What are BBS RS001 worth?

I'm considering a set that's for sale, they have some gutter rash but look to be original and un-split, centre caps all there, no buckles or cracks but the seller just informed me that 2 wheels have been repaired at some point but "look professionally repaired"

Question is what do you guys think a set of RS001 are worth? I know alot depends on condition, these aren't mint but just 'normal' so to speak, does previous repairs detract from value considerably? does it affect the wheel itself?

    Any input appreciated

Given the ages of alot of these sets of wheels, it's not uncommon to come across repairs that have been previously carried out.

Personally, I'm not against repairs, aslong as they were done properly and the wheels remains structurally OK.

I'd say thier worth is relative to the money that'll be needed to be spent to return them to factory of better condition.

Thanks for that, I must admit it did the repairs did get me worried as I haven't dealt with wheels of this age and rarity.

Wheels will be staying stock until I can save enough for some nice bigger lips (which are waaaay more expensive than I first thought)
