  • Plastidiped my Rims 19" Talledega's *PICS* inside

So I decided to have a crack at plastidiping, one word "WOW", It looks absolutely amazing and I cant express how robust this stuff is.... extremely easy. followed some guides I found on the internet and off I went, cost me $100 for 4 cans + spray gun delivered to my door - not to mention the AWESOME delivery time (6 hours from when I ordered to sitting for my door mat)

Whole job took me a total of 4 hours which includes removing and reinstalling wheels on car. suggest you have 4 jack stands handy.

Completely removable if you decide you dont like and finishes with a beatiful matte surface... It really makes the car look "TOUGH"

Happy to answer any questions if you are interested in doing it. MORE PHOTOS TO COME

Wouldn't you need to rebalance the wheels after?

I got VWR Springs installed today so they rebalanced for me , this was 4 coats..... but I suggest using 5 as there can be some dull spots that show up later... I will do another coat this weekend

Where did you get the cans from? I've got two already just need a few more for other projects.

Hi there..in the process of doing this now.

2nd coat in after about an hours work on two wheels and it is coming up a little bubbly. The wheels were spotless as i washed the car then cleaned the wheels when i took them off (and they are only two weeks old anyway!)

any tips as to what I might be doing wrong?

                    Cheers

If you are getting bubbles you are most likely too close to the surface. But on the same token don't move to far away either otherwise the platidip will speckle. Whilst there are pre-spray cleaning solutions as long as the surface is nice and clean you shold be fine.

Some of the best tutorials come from Dipyourcar.com

Even if you don't succeed remember you can simply peel / rub it off (microfibre towel).

                        Thanks TD,

I took it nice and slow with lots of thin coats and finished up really nice.

White with black wheels.... Classic strom trooper look. Love it. You just need VERY dark tint to set that off.
