..and yet I'm super impressed with these bang for buck. I got a pair of these for the front as I only wanted an interim cheapie tyre as I'm planning wheels soon, and they are very good - certainly I've had a lot worse "brand name" tyres. A lot of my JDM buds swear by them, and I see why. No they aren't world beaters, but for the $$, as a cheapie, well I'm impressed. Grip, quiet, secure in the wet, well balanced. I'd rate these over other "cheaper" tyres commonly fitted.

I must say I was a little surprised by the shyte tyre comment given the broad support it gets across a few brands of car. I'm about to fit some to my Polo GTI, after not being able to find anything with comparable specs within $50 a tyre.

I went from Pirelli P Zero Rosso (multiple sets) to KU31 om my tuned HSV Clubsport. Better sidewall compliance on the P Zero in 19'' so the ride was a little harsher but after 10K the KU 31 were still great in the wet unlike the P Zero which were useless in the wet at 10K and stuffed by 15K. Great bang for the buck. Absolutely no regrets on the purchase.

Every set of KU31s I've had in my shop were showing signs of irregular wear on the shoulders. Starts off as simple feathering and down the track it turns into pretty severe cupping, mainly on the inside. And it's a consistent thing across different sizes (recently I've had 215/45R17, 225/45R17, 215/55R16, 275/30R20), different cars, drivers, etc. Apart from that, the tyre is not a bad performer. The most anyone got was around 25,000km and the shoulders were stuffed. Lastly, Kumhos are being paralleled by just about everyone these days - if you have a warranty issue with a parallel import, the shop has to wear it out of their own pocket. No thanks!

46000km on my gti. They do feather a bit more than some dearer softer brands, hard braking brings this on. They are a lot louder. But at 90% of the wet grip of a michelin pp2 or pirelli p7, easily twice the km they are very good value.
I had p7s, pp2 and the like for many sets, getting 15-18000km from a set. When my new rims came with the ku31 i thought id scrub them and put on something 'decent' once id killed them. I ended up getting the same again.MK4 GTI - Sold
