  • Bagged MK1????

    Hi there guys,

I would like to know if there is someone who can help me out with this topic. I am thinking about doing it to MK1 but need a little bit of info. Does anyone know what needs to be done to make it legal? Does it have to be certified? And are there any guys out there with 15" wheels they might want to get rid of. Please do post some pics with the wheels because I can't get the wheels I want I would have to make another plan.

You will need to see what laws you have in ACT as its different in each state.

Assuming it was similar to VIC...
The car has to raise to 100mm minimum clear of the ground once the engine is started then can not be moved once the car is in motion. This would have to be done by physical sensors not pressure sensors.
Then would have to be engineered/certified.

I have looked at the kits Bag Riders have available. And they look like the best guys to get them from. So you are saying that once I have the car started and moving it should be a minimum of 100mm of the ground. That is if the laws are the same as victoria?

you have to check with the RTA/engineer in ACT and find out what the law is. then you'll need to figure out if the bag system can comply to that.

Other crowds like ORT and ECS had gear for mk1s too, but doesnt seem to be any more.
Other then the bags and struts, the rest of the gear is universal. Just need to get what suits you and what you want from the car.

Yep, assuming it is the same anyway...
you should be able to look it up on the net and find out what the go is for your state.

I know someone with a bagged ute in ACT, he had to go through hell to get it legal after having a dodgy defect thrown at him in Melbourne.
