Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Best source for 15" stock-style alloy?

My wife just bought a new Skoda Fabia with steel wheels, 'cause the dealer had no stock with the optional Antares 15" factory alloys. Dealer is quoting $1320 to source 4 Antares through their Spares/Service dept. Grrrr...I've seen that the official RRP in Australia for these wheels is $990.

Do I have to ring all the dealers in NSW to find someone to take my $990?

Or, do I ring head office and dob in the first guy?

Or, is there a cheaper and better way to source the factory alloys? I have read the threads on importing from OS, but would prefer an easy path.

Or, should we give up on factory Antares wheels and go somewhere in Sydney for similar 15"s? I could drive to Tempe Wheels, which is FAR, or can you suggest something easier? I want to stay with the factory rubber, which is decent, and stay VERY close to the ET43 offset. I'm grateful for any and all suggestions.

Scour ebay for some Polo (9N or 6R) or MkIV Golf rims.
You should be able to get a set for less than $400
