Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • boavista weight and offset question

Hi all, I can't seem to find the weight of the 17" boavistas. Noone would know by any chance would they?
Also, how much tolerance would I have with the et on after market wheels. I wouldn't see why 17" et 35/40 wouldn't work.. or would they poke out a bit much?
    Cheers

what car are you putting them on?
offset also means nothing without width, so need to post that up.

actually just found this in another thread

      Comfortline with Sports Pack
      Wheel: 17" Boavista 17x7, PCD 5x100, ET46
      Tyre: 215/40 R17

yes you can run different offsets and widths, how much depends on hieght, tyre size, and personal preference though.

Looking at replacing the boavista 17x7 et 46 with tsw nurburgring 17x8 et 45 on my 6r 77tsi. It will be getting lowered too. The offset question was just out of curiosity. I'm just after on the weight of the boavistas

If youre going 17x8 you'll need +35 offset because you won't have enough clearance on the inside. Go check the polo 6r section there's a recent discussion on wheels. And Bigfoot currently runs 18x8 et35 tsw nurburgrings on his polo with h&r lowered springs
